Judging Day!!!!!!

Today the judge is coming at 3pm to look at my garden.  It has been raining today.  I pulled all of the little weeds out of my cooking garden and made sure my plants looked nice and healthy.  I am excited to show off all of my hard work.  It has taken a lot of time and effort to grow my garden.  Now i get to cook with my produce.  Thank you everyone for looking at my blog as the weeks go by.All_done[1]

My plants are growing really well.  My herbs for my school garden have grown lots.  I have been watering them with grey water.  They all look nice and healthy except for my basil.  It has gone brown and yucky.  I will have to pull it out.  My beans are flowering and climbing the fence. My sunflowers are getting taller and my lettuces will be ready soon.Untitledvfghfky

Arrrrggggg!!!!

Today I noticed that slugs and snails have been eating my plants.  I am lucky that they don’t eat my herbs in my cooking garden because they don’t like them.  Mum got me some bait that kills them.Bait[1]

Today I had so much planting to do.  I had to plant all of my yummy herbs in my school garden, plant my corn, chilies, lettuces, gherkins zucchinis and leaks.  It took me a very long time.  I watered them using fresh water.  I did it in the evening. if you do it in the middle of the day its too hot and they don’t like it.  My bean seedlings are growing well so are my sunflowers and strawberry’s.  I have lots of tomato seedlings.Untitled1

For my school garden this year, I have decided to grow a cooking garden.  My favorite hobby is cooking.  The picture below is a cooking garden, all of the plants in it can be used to cook tasty dishes.  They are called herbsimages

Today I finished preparing my gardens with my mum and dad.  I pulled out the small weeds that sprouted, and dug the soil over to fluff it up to put air in the soil.  I added more blood and bone to the soil to feed my plants.

I also worked on my school garden.  I had to transplant my silver beat from last year to my new garden and dig the dirt over ready to start my “cooking garden” Untitled

grey water

We live in a small village where we are not hooked up to an endless supply of water.  I have decided to help the environment and our water suply, by using greywater to water my plants.  My mum and I went to the supermarket and chose a laundry liquid that wouldn’t harm my plants.  When mum does the washing I capture the water in a large tub.  I use this to water my garden.  It is best not to get the water on the leaves. You have to be careful when using greywater because of bacteria.
